Every Violet Guide has been there. They have walked alongside someone they love through the last stage of life, and they know firsthand what that experience asks of you — the exhaustion, the uncertainty, the moments where you don't know what to say or what to do next. That lived experience is the foundation of everything a Guide brings to a call.
Many Guides have also worked as nurses, psychologists or social workers. But it's their personal experience — not their professional credentials — that makes them so well placed to help.
Violet Guides are trained by Violet and receive ongoing support and supervision, so you can trust that the person on the other end of the line is genuinely equipped to help.
What does a session look like?
You don't need to have anything prepared before your call. Your Guide will help shape the conversation around what matters most to you, right now. If there are specific things on your mind, bring them. If you just need to talk, that's enough too.
Sessions are 45 minutes long and available Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm — including evenings, because we know that's often when the hard stuff surfaces. Most people have up to three sessions, and once you've spoken with a Guide, you'll always come back to the same person.
Some of the things people talk about with a Guide:
Having important conversations — with doctors, aged care staff, or family members who see things differently
Understanding how to complete a meaningful advance care plan that genuinely reflects your loved one's wishes
Managing complex family dynamics when everyone is under pressure
Getting support when you or someone you love is struggling emotionally
Grief — whether you're anticipating a loss, or living with one that has already happened
A few things worth knowing
Violet isn't a crisis line. If you or someone you know needs immediate support, Lifeline (13 11 14) and Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636) are there for that.
Violet Guides also don't offer clinical, legal or financial advice. What they do offer is time, presence, and a clear-eyed understanding of what this stage of life involves — both emotionally and practically.
Violet also isn't a replacement for longer-term therapy. If that feels like something you need, your Guide can help you think through the right options.
We aim to have appointments available within 48 hours of booking.
